The National Ground Water Association prepared this informative, two-page document which explains the vital role of ground water in Pennsylvania.  Here are some of the statistics from this document:

33.7% of Pennsylvania's population depends on ground water for its drinking water supply.

978,202 Pennsylvania households are served by privately-owned, individual wells.

2,513,979 Pennsylvania residents are served by privately-owned, individual wells.

bullet

17, 477 public supply wells serve Pennsylvania.

bullet

1,484,730 Pennsylvania residents are served by ground-water influenced public water supply systems.
